Our History

Structural Applications was founded in 1978 by Mr. DM Howarth and Mr. JC Oosthuizen as an anti-corrosion company providing corrosion protection of steel and equipment to mines, chemical plants and pipelines.

The company’s main focus was corrosion control through the application of petroleum based tape systems We achieved this in conjunction with Winn & Coales (Denso), establishing a system of protection to structures in Southern Africa.

Despite the success of the tape systems, applications were limited. As a result, Structural Applications had to expand its anti-corrosion services to embrace more commonly used protection methods. The application of specialised coatings and linings, particularly in the re-coating or maintenance field, was a natural progression.

Structural Applications has since grown to one of the leading anti-corrosion and coating service providers within the Northern region and have been associated with Anglo-platinum and Impala platinum for over 40 years.

To broaden our scope of work and to meet expanding industrial requirements, two divisional companies were added to our existing portfolio, Structural Applications Contracts & Structural Applications Projects.
